Carson City detectives are investigating a shooting Wednesday morning in East Carson City in the which the victim claims his estranged wife shot him.

Raymond Casey Mann, 45, was shot once through the flesh of his upper left thigh just after 8 a.m. at his home in the 2600 block of Bunch Way.

Mann reportedly told investigators he heard a knock at his door and when he opened it his estranged wife, who was issued a restraining order against him in early October, was pointing a gun at him.

Capt. Ken Sandage said Mann described swatting the weapon away when it fired, striking him in the leg.

Mann told investigators the woman then fled.

About 15 minutes after the shooting a Carson City deputy contacted the woman on her cell phone, and she said she was at her Reno home.

At about 9:15 a.m. officers met with her at her home and her roommates said she had been there all morning, said Sandage.

The woman came in for an interview with officers and was free to leave, said Sandage.

Last week, Mann was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant accusing him of stalking his estranged wife, court records indicate.

A warrant was issued for his arrest earlier this month.

In September Mann’s father got a restraining order against his son’s wife, saying he feared for his safety.

The elder Mann had twice reported she had violated the restraining orders – once on Sept. 23 and again on Oct. 6.

The allegations were sent to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

The investigation into the shooting continues, said Sandage.
