Man shot, three sought
A man was shot at least twice late Sunday night in a dispute centered around disrespect and drugs, according to police.
Sheriff Ken Furlong said officers were called to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center at 12:40 a.m. after a 28-year-old man was brought there with gunshots wounds.
He’d apparently been shot two hours earlier outside a home in the 3400 block of Champion Street.
According to Detective Daniel Gonzales, the victim, whose name was not released, was inside the house when his girlfriend got into an argument with another woman over the other woman believing she’d been disrespected, said Furlong. He said at least seven people were gathered there using methamphetamine.
When the argument between the women escalated, the other woman called her 44-year-old uncle who arrived with his 23-year-old son and a third man.
Detective Dena Lacy said a fist fight ensued outside, and one of the one of the three men pulled out a weapon and shot the victim.
The trio then fled on foot.
Witnesses reported the victim was hit in the stomach and in the upper back
A homeowner nearby reported at 10:18 p.m. hearing five gunshots in the area at 10:18 p.m., but officers were unable to locate anything.
More than two hours later, the victim was dropped off at the emergency room by a family member who then left. The man was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight. His status was not available.
Police have not released the names of the suspects.
The investigation is ongoing.
