With the children home on winter break and more food being consumed, check out those boxes and start saving the box tops.

Ava Atkins continues to cut them out to assist Bordewich-Bray Elementary long after all her children are out of the house. If you have been saving all those box tops you can send them or drop them off at the elementary school:

Calling all talented children between the ages of 5-16. Wild Horse Children’s Theater wants you to be a part of a fun group that doesn’t care what your talent is, but just that you enjoy yourself doing it.

So if you can juggle, sing, dance, maybe write or recite poetry or monologues, come down or give them a call.

No rehearsals are required. Just prepare your talent on your own and come perform for our audience in a fun, supportive, and non-competitive environment.

There is no charge.

With the New Year around the corner, you might want to grab one of the local 2008 calendars with some beautiful ladies who have enormous hearts.

Proceeds will help the Danielle Conway Foundation. For 16 months, Danielle has been through a journey that you never want to experience, but she’s smiled the whole way. Some fine local women achieved the dream of a calendar to help raise funds for Danielle’s continued battle against cancer.

The kindness and generosity is astounding. Like always in our community, when someone needs assistance, it is there. I am blessed, Danielle stated, to live in this town and never walk my journey alone.

So if you haven’t purchased one yet, go online and order one.

The Sierra Chapter of the Honda Riders Club of America is celebrating the New Year with a wonderful night at the Grand Sierra Resort. All the proceeds go to the MacKenzie Burgess memorial fund.

MacKenzie continues to work her magic by helping others with the fund her parents, Bill and Caroline Burgess, and grandparents, Bill and Susan Burgess, set up. The fund assists children with scholarships for soccer, tutoring, global warming and saving the polar bears.

Come join the ball.
