Metals engineer named to new professorship
Metallurgical engineering professor Manoranjan Misra has been named to the newly established Echo-Logic Technologies Professorship at the University of Nevada Mackay School of Mines in Reno.
Misra is chairman of the division and is working on innovative technologies for preventing pollution and for repairing environmental damage.
Echo-Logic Technologies of Reno has pledged $100,000 to establish the professorship and another $120,000 in a contract to research environmental controls and advanced metallurgical processing. The company is providing $10,000 scholarships for two years to undergraduate students in metallurgical engineering.
Misra has authored more than 110 publications and was named the university’s outstanding researcher in 1996.
