The Misfits theater group will take the stage Saturday with a special Christmas play to benefit Lyon County’s Shop with a Sheriff program.

“The 12 Gifts of Christmas” is a comedy in the melodrama style the Misfits is known for. All proceeds go to the Shop with a Sheriff program, which benefits children in the county who are underprivileged or crime victims .

“All of the actors are buying costumes with their own money and donating all their time to do this for (Shop with a Sheriff),” said Deputy Julie Redmond who organized the sheriff’s program.

“The 12 Gifts of Christmas” will be performed one time only on Saturday in the Odeon Hall of at Chucks Old Wets Grill in Old Town Dayton. Cost is $12 per person and free for children under 10.

“This is a fun thing to go to, especially if you have a lot of kids, they can get in free,” Redmond said.

The Shop with a Sheriff program hopes to raise at least $1,000. Donations of any amount may be made directly to the program by contacting Deputy Redmond at 775-246-6200 or 775-577-5023.
