More cold, wet weather this week
A few more cool days are in the forecast before warmer temperatures hit the area this weekend, according to the National. Weather Service.
Meteorologist Mark Faucette said light snow showers are expected this morning, becoming a mixture of snow and rain in the afternoon with a high in the low 50s.
“There won’t be any significant accumulation in the Carson City area, with light accumulation above 5,500 feet,” he said.
A large area of low pressure in the upper atmosphere is expected to move in from the northwest in the coming days. Faucette said the cool temperatures this week aren’t unusual for this time of year.
“We are in what we refer to as a transition season. We are transitioning away from winter into summer. It’s not the average weather, but it’s not an atypical storm,” he said.
Tonight there will be a 20 percent chance of showers before 11 p.m., partly cloudy, with a low around 33 degrees.
Friday morning will begin at 30 degrees with a high near 60 as the day progresses.
The weekend looks mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with highs Saturday and Sunday in the upper 60s.
