NDOT to hold meeting on wind warning system
To protect driver safety, the Nevada Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to drive safely in high winds and seeking public input on the current wind closure notification system through Washoe Valley.
NDOT will hold a public meeting from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pleasant Valley Elementary School cafeteria/multi-purpose room, 405 Surrey Drive, to provide information and seek public input as part of a continuing study of the wind warning system located along Highway 395 and State Route 429 (Old 395/Bowers Mansion Road) between Reno and Carson City.
Winds are frequently high in the area. In the past 16 years, approximately 30 high-profile vehicles such as commercial trucks, RVs, campers, buses and truck-trailers have crashed in the valley’s severe winds.
The public is invited to attend the meeting to discuss the study and provide comments. Comments can also be made before
Nov. 9 by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by mail at NDOT District II, Attn: Jae Pullen, 310 Galletti Way, Sparks, NV. 89431.
Drivers also can log onto http://www.nevadadot.com/wind for further details on the wind warning system.
