Nevada Appeal at 150: Sept. 5, 1974: Genoa Courthouse to sport rebuilt veranda

Sixty-four years later, the pillared veranda is being rebuilt on the old Genoa Courthouse as one of the major restoration projects on Western Nevada’s first seat of government. Now housing the Carson Valley Historical Society Museum, restoration has been funded by Douglas County, the Bicentennial Commission, other grants and fund drives. Above, master craftsman Jack Crawford works with helper Dennis Robbins, right, reconstructing the veranda that was destroyed in the disastrous 1910 fire which virtually wiped out the once flourishing town.
