New Year’s Day closings

State and Carson City government offices will be closed Thursday for the New Year’s Day holiday.

The Carson City Marriage Bureau, 885 E. Musser St., will be open from 9-4:30 p.m.

The front counter of the Carson City Sheriff’s Department will be closed and there will be no visitation at the Carson City Jail.

The Carson City Senior Citizens Center along with Dayton, Douglas, Silver Springs, Storey County and Fernley centers will be closed. Services and meals resume Friday.

In Douglas County in Minden a clerk is on call today from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for marriage licenses. For information call 782-9014.

For marriage licenses in Stateline, the Lake Tahoe office is open 9-5 p.m. at 175 Highway 50. For information call (775) 586-7290. For marriage licenses in Storey County, the clerk’s office in Virginia City is closed.

The marriage bureau and other county offices in Lyon County are closed.

The Carson City Public Library will close at 6 p.m. today and will be closed Thursday.

The Douglas County Library is closed and will be open from 9 a.m. -5 p.m. today.

Carson City Schools are closed for Winter break. School resumes Friday.

The U.S. Post Office will be closed.

Banks will be closed for the holiday; customers are urged to plan ahead.
