Newmont’s exploration request approved
WINNEMUCCA (AP) – Federal land managers have approved an exploration request by Newmont Mining Corp.
The U.S. Bureau of Land Management issued a finding of no significant impact for Newmont’s Sandman Exploration Project about 14 miles northwest of Winnemucca.
The gold mining giant currently is allowed to disturb about 59 acres of public and private land in the project area.
The BLM’s action allows the company to disturb up to 441 more acres of public and private land in the area.
