Obituary for Jon Clifford Plank

A memorial service for Jon Clifford Plank, 65, a Carson City resident for the past 28 years, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, corner of Nevada and West Musser streets.

Mr. Plank died Dec. 27, 2002, in Carson City. He was born June 28, 1937, in Long Beach, Calif., to Clifford D. and Eleanor Plank. He was raised in the San Gabriel Mountains.

He graduated from Victor Valley High School in Victorville, Calif., and from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, Calif., in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry.

He married Rita in 1981.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Elko from 1965 to 1974.

Mr. Plank worked for the state of Nevada’s Employment Security Department. He retired after 32 years as chief of Field Direction and Management. He was a Carson City supervisor from 1997 until his death.

He was a member of Gov. O’Callahan’s Planning Council for Manpower Revenue Sharing, the Governor’s Task Force for Alternative Uses for the Nevada Test Site and the Carson Sertoma Club.

He was ordained an elder of the Presbyterian Church of Lamoille and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carson City .

Among his survivors are his wife, Rita of Carson City; sons Al of Elko and Louis of Bountiful, Utah; daughters Marlene Turk of Elko, Dee Ann Wilkie of Carson City, Briana diTorio of Las Vegas and Cheryl Dahlinger of Carson City; and 18 grandchildren.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
