Obituary: Wilhelm Wurmsdobler

A memorial service for Wilhelm Wurmsdobler, 68, a Carson City resident for the past three years, will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Teresa Catholic Church in the chapel.

Mr. Wurmsdobler died Sept. 28, 2003, at home. He was born March 9, 1935, in Schaerding, Austria, to Heinrich and Maria Gabauer Wurmsdobler.

From age 14 to 17, he was an apprentice breadmaker in Steiermark, Austria. At age 17, he moved to Vienna to learn fine-pastrymaking and chocolate candymaking.

He worked as a pastry chef in Switzerland, Montreal and Los Angeles. He moved to Tahoe in 1974, where he was head pastry chef at Harvey’s Casino for 25 years. He retired in 2000 then moving to Carson City.

Among his survivors are his wife of 45 years, Ingeborg of Carson City; son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Mary Ann of Los Angeles; sisters Maria and Zenzi Wurmsdobler of Muenzkirchen, Austria; and grandchildren Hans and Ryan Wurmsdobler of Los Angeles.
