One person injured after small plane crashes at Burning Man Festival

Associated Press

RENO — A small plane crashed at the Burning Man Festival on Friday and one person was taken by helicopter to a hospital for treatment, officials said.

The person was taken to Washoe Medical Center for treatment, but no further information was available, said Dale Miller, a dispatcher for the Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority.

Authorities from Washoe and Pershing counties said they were investigating the accident at the festival near Gerlach, but had no information immediately available.

The Federal Aviation Administration had no information on the accident, a spokesman said Friday night.

The Burning Man Festival, which is in the desert 120 miles north of Reno, is an annual festival billed as a celebration of radical self-expression and radical self-reliance. The weeklong event last year drew more than 30,000 people.
