Oodles of noodles at annual celebration
The 12th annual Oodles of Noodles Festival, celebrating the area’s Italian and Chinese history, will be Saturday and Sunday in Old Town Dayton.
“We have so much going on,” said Jojo Myers, president of the board of directors for the Dayton Chamber of Commerce. “It’s for the whole family.”
The celebration begins Saturday with the Oodles of Noodles Cook-off from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in which 11 amateur and professional chefs will compete for best pasta dish. Tasting tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children.
It will include food vendors, entertainment, local talent, and vendor and business booths. Bounce houses will be available for the kids, and Battleborn Civil War Re-enactors will perform throughout the day.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Dayton VFW Post #8660 to send World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., to see their monument through Honor Flights Nevada.
“That’s going make it really amazing this year,” Myers said. “We are raising awareness and funds for Honor Flights Nevada.”
Eight local World War II veterans will be recognized during a ceremony and parade 9 a.m. Sunday, following the pancake breakfast, which begins at 7 a.m. and costs $5.
