Outgoing commander at Fallon NAS honored
FALLON ” An outgoing command master chief at the Naval Air Station in Fallon has some advice for the tens of thousands of pilots and sailors who pass through the base each year for training.
Master Chief Casey Forsch says they and their families should take the opportunity to soak up the Western culture and do things in northern Nevada they can’t do anywhere else in the Navy.
Forsch says they could go to a rodeo, learn to ski, climb rocks, visit petroglyphs or catch a bass or Lahontan cutthroat trout.
The 27-year veteran who served as command master chief at Fallon for three years recently received the Meritorious Service Medal to close out his tour at the station.
Every carrier air wing comes to Fallon for critical combat training prior to their deployment and Forsch says he knows there is one thing he can tell them for sure:
“You shouldn’t be bored here.”
