At the new skating rink northeast of town a gentleman took a young lady out on Christmas Day. While skating he hit an air pocket and plunged into the cold. He got out and sat down to take off his skates and announced to the young lady he was going to rest a while. “Come on you idiot,” said Clara grasping and pulling with all her strength. “You must come with me!” She made a grand effort and John rose to the sound of ripping cloth. A good part of his new Christmas pants were still frozen to the ice. The two marched single file ahead. The girl kept ahead.

Storey County Commissioners met Friday and removed from office the county physician, matron and steward at the county hospital and the janitor at the courthouse. The chief of police was removed from office and an appointment made in his place. District Attorney Noel objected, but they did it anyway.

Lions Club Chairman Archie Pozzi of the signs committee reported progress on the project for erecting new club signs at the three principal highway entrances to the city.
