The aspirations of the petty thieves are not so high as they have taken the meat hooks from John Rosser and empty whiskey barrels from the Ormsby House yard. In the old days they would have simply rolled a drunk. We are ashamed of the demoralized character of our petty thieves and we would like them to improve, if they have no greater ambition.

The Appeal is in receipt of a highway map from the National Transportation Association, which shows north, central and southern highways. The central highway passes through Carson City, up Kings Canyon to Lake Tahoe.

Forty-seven-year-old Babe Ruth is in the hospital suffering from pneumonia. He is described as a very sick man.
