Salvage committee: The Ormsby county committee reports that defense material received at the depot has been sold and now on the way to various manufacturing plants. Items donated: 2 1/2 tons of paper/magazines, 250 pounds of rags, 2,000 pounds of rubber, 50 pounds of copper, 40 pounds of aluminum and 2,000 pounds of scrap metal.

Births: Grandparents for the first time are Mr. and Mrs. Allen Odell and Mr. and Mrs. George Westenhoefer who were presented with a grandson – born to Mr. and Mrs. Dan Odell and named Norman Alan.

Seized cattle: One hundred fifty seven head of cattle were seized from Raymond Yowell and the Te-Moak Band of Western Shoshone south of Elko. American Indian and states rights activist say they may attempt to disrupt the transfer of livestock confiscated by the Bureau of Land Management.
