Editor of the Appeal: Mr. Mighels was among the passengers on the evening train of the V & T … He goes to San Francisco and will be absent in California for several weeks. Mr. Mighels is accompanied by his wife and two of his children. Illness necessitated his cessation of editorial work.

Rebate: Reno printer has evolved a novel scheme to lessen the enormity of the dram shop habit while increasing the consumption of liquor. His scheme is the rebate saloon. Drinks are to be sold at 20 cents. Every customer is credited by an expert account with one cent. Twice a year a dividend is declared. The projector of the scheme thinks it will be so popular that all of the accountants thrown out of employment by the collapsing banks will work again.

Whoa Car: A Carson teenager drove a car into a gas station for a few gallons of gas and pulled up to stop … When he pushed on his brakes to stop, there were no brakes. The car smashed into the front of the gas station at Carson and William streets.
