Only a Few Days' Grace will be allowed to those owning personal property tax. In an advertisement in today's Appeal, it will be that Assessor Chedic by Debut gives notice that he will, after the 5th of September, seize property and collect personal property tax then remaining by persons not owning real estate in the county.

Yesterday at 2 o'clock there was quite a crowd at the auction of circus horses and a good deal of sport was had at Folsom's hay yard. When Folsom brought out two donkeys, the crowd began to sing "Three Little Maids From School." A.M. McCade bought the hurdle jumping mare for $35. Peanuts, the trick pony, was bid by Conway for Forrepaugh, $49.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley for Mrs. H.F. (Gertrude) Dangberg, a longtime resident and pioneer of the Carson Valley. She was 91 and died Friday while riding in an automobile in Carson City.

Between the outlet of the Truckee and Sugar Pine Point, near the shore of Lake Bigler, is a remarkable natural curiosity. About 300 yards from the shore the top of a pine tree shoots out of the water to the height of seven or eight feet, and of a diameter of about four inches. The tree is now dead, but appears to be firmly rooted in the bottom of the lake. The water around the tree is 150 feet deep by actual measurement. —Trespass

In view of information received by the public service commission, Governor Vail Pittman announced today that he would recommend that daylight saving time be continued in communities serviced by Sierra Pacific Power company in Western Nevada "until such time as there is assurance that there will be no power shortage."

The Carson-Tahoe Hospital was almost totally destroyed early this afternoon by a blaze believed to have started in a furnace room. An estimated 30 patients were evacuated within minutes after the fire started. Most were moved by ambulance to temporary emergency facilities at the Capital Convalescent Center. County Commissioner Keith Macdonald said a wing of the new hospital might be readied earlier to accommodate patients evicted by the blaze.

The federal government's Soil Conservation Service approved $55,000 to reseed most of the 1,800 acres above Carson City that were burned by the "C" Hill fire earlier this month, officials announced Thursday.
