James Dove was up before His Honor yesterday charged with carrying a series of entertainments on Sunday which savored very much more of the chicken cock than the dove; for, in fact, James himself admitted by his plea of guilty to the complaint that he had been disturbing the peace round Bob Stewart's ears. The judge let him off with the moderate fine of $3. Paid.

About half past one on Sunday, James Duffy and Nate Smart were shaking poker dice at Avery's. After a while, stakes went to a dollar. After a bit, a dispute arose with Duffy claiming the stakes. As Smart went gliding out the door, Duffy fired three shots. After a vast amount of running and shouting and cries for police, in a few minutes everything resumed a dead level of serenity.
