Legislative cheers. The patriots of the Assembly took a recess about the time “Old Glory” was raised to the top of the new flagstaff, and standing on the balcony of the Capitol, they gave three hearty cheers.

130 years ago

On his rounds. Carson was honored yesterday morning by the presence of its Democratic United States Senator. He appears fat and sleek, and no doubt the word wags prosperously with him. Many mounts were visited in this city, and he informed property holders that he had in view the erection of several buildings.

100 years ago

The annual report of the Nevada State Sheep Commission for the year ending Nov. 1, 1915, places the total number of sheep, bucks and goats in the state at 1,037,499, with a total valuation of $3,438,148.

70 years ago

Mr. And Mrs. George Gottschalk entertained the “Mr. And Mrs.” Club in their home recently. The hostess served a buffet dinner, which was followed by the playing of contract bridge. Members and guests attending included Mr. And Mrs. Bernard Hartung, Dr. And Mrs. D.L. Sullivan, Mr. And Mrs. Chester Cockran, Mr. And Mrs. Alan Bible, Mrs. Raby Newton, Mr. And Mrs. W.T. Holcomb and the host and hostess.

Gov. Grant Sawyer confirmed Monday he will announce later this month whether he intends to run for reelection. He is expected to campaign for a third term, unprecedented in Nevada.

The dream of an equestrian center for world class competition south of Carson City began about two years ago. Now, according to members of an ad hoc committee supporting the $25 million center, there is enough support for a feasibility study.
