List to the sound of jubilant bells,

Pealing their merriest notes;

On the vibrating air the melody swells,

Proudly, triumphantly, laughingly wells

Cheerily, joyfully floats —

Borne on the mightily breeze, resounding and clear

Rises the Song of a ‘Happy New Year.’

New Year wedding. The first day of 1906 witnessed the wedding of Dr. W. H. Cavell and Miss Ida Platt. It was one of the social events in the history of this city. The Masonic Hall was used, and Rev. H. H. Ramsey of the Episcopal Church performed the wedding ceremony. The bride is one of the best known and popular young ladies of this city and has taken a leading part in Eastern Star work. The groom, Dr. Cavell, has an established practice here and plans to make Carson City their home.
