The big storm. The biggest storm we have had this winter commenced last Monday afternoon, and kept it up continuously for 24 hours, accompanied with high winds. A great portion of the time it was impossible for pedestrians to face the storm, on account of the drifting snow, that was whirling in all directions. Snow fell to the depth of two feet on a level and drifts in some places up to 20 feet. White Pine News, April 10.

Yesterday a man was tried before Justice Gaige for blacking his wife's eyes. He claimed the appearance of her face was due to an accidental blow while wrestling playfully a broom from her in play. He wanted to sweep the room, and she refused to let him have it. The jury brought in a verdict of guilty, and in default of $200 bail, he is now stopping with the sheriff.

The former Comstock boom town of Virginia City will get a face-lifting this week by more than 50 junior high school students from Millbrae, Calif., as students plan to take a paint brush and shovels in hand to spruce up the local cemetery.
