Skating Rink. Owing to the inclemency of the weather, there was not as many at the rink last evening as on opening night. A club to be known as the "Pioneer Skating Club" was formed, some 25 at the signing. The club, as soon as they have 40 members, will have exclusive use of the rink on Monday and Thursday evenings.

130 years ago

Just as the train left Reno yesterday, a quarrel took place between Dick Allen and L. Adkinson that resulted with Adkinson being shot. It appears Allen was getting on the train when he was accused of stealing $1,200 by Adkinson. Words passed and Adkinson shot Allen in the face.

100 years ago

C. L. Deady, surveyor-general and registrar at the state land office, reports that during November receipts of his office were $8,976.63 for the sale of state lands.
