Celebration: Champagne corks popped in Cherry Creek when the arrival of the Nevada Northern railroad was celebrated with a banquet given in honor of the officials of the line.

Red cross dogs: The American dog is going to do his bit in the war. Red Cross canines are in big demand — wearing gas masks, they go out between the trenches and locate unconscious, wounded men. Plans are under way to have Uncle Sam’s bow-wows take their places on the fighting line.

Incline Village: The “Ponderosa” is celebrating its 30th anniversary. It began as the Incline Horse Stables 30 years ago and became the Ponderosa Ranch, a set for the television show, Bonanza.
