Wayside notes: Mr. Henry Vansickle has raised more pounds of apples that any other rancher in the state.

Fight: Dr. Guion and Ed Biglow, the blacksmith, had a fight outside of the Morton House over a bill. Dr. Guion called Biglow a “lying son of a ­—” and punched him in the nose. Biglow drew a six-shooter and beat the doctor over the head. The two rolled over and Dr. Guion caught Biglow’s thumb between his teeth and lacerated it terribly. Dr. Guion swore out a warrant for the arrest of Biglow, and Biglow will institute a civil suit for damages to his thumb …

Rambler by Wes Davis: Two of Carson City’s outstanding youths were arrested upon criminal complaints for the heinous and dastardly crime of being upon a public street after 8 o’clock p.m. If this ordinance is to be enforced, it is suggested that instead of putting bells on the town’s cats, they be placed on all male youth under 18. Officers will be able to find them much easier …
