All sorts: A pair of scissors were chained to the desk with a dog chain and before night the “devil” had them in the back room cutting up a blotting pad into sections for making a gem puzzle.
Superintendent Crawford of the Mint is taking a great interest in the “Ball” (April leap-year ball). He is trying hard not to have any polkas or waltzes … the plain Missouri quadrille, or New Jersey hoe-down is good enough for him.
