Sea Serpent (Vancouver, B.C.): The body of a 10 foot “sea serpent” with a horse-like head and bulbous nostrils defied identification and vouched for the sobriety of Vancouverites who have been seeing such creatures in recent years. The strange creature had a head resembling that of a horse, except it had cartilage skull, and the body was covered with bristly hair.

Kim Riggs, a homeless advocate for the Carson City schools, gathers shoes for needy kids at Easter. Riggs has organized the Easter Shoe Program with Payless Shoe Source for the past four years. The community donated 330 pairs in 2000. In 2001 there are 336 children in need.
