A touching incident: When a parrot owned by a lady of this city flew around the room singing, “The Watch on the Rhine,” the air of the grand old hymn could be heard throughout the house. The lady of the house discovered that the bird had just taken a bath in a pitcher of beer from Klein’s brewery.
A sagebrush angel: A Nevada editor died the other day and appeared before the Gate … “A hard case, a hard case, indeed!” sighed the worthy man. “You have been a hard swearer. It is said that on one occasion you even made Hank Monk blush.”
