Police officers kill armed man at Vegas Costco
LAS VEGAS (AP) – Questions are emerging about a weekend police slaying at a Costco membership warehouse store in Las Vegas.
Friends and a family lawyer say the man shot and killed by Las Vegas police Saturday had a concealed weapons permit.
They tell the Las Vegas Review-Journal that 39-year-old Erik Scott was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and worked for a medical devices company.
Police say officers responding to a disturbance call at the Costco store in Summerlin confronted an armed man shortly before 1 p.m. in front of the store.
Police say three officers opened fire when he reached for a weapon in his waistband.
Attorney Ross Goodman and family friend Mike Pusateri say it wouldn’t be like Scott to threaten anyone with a gun.
