Propane tank thefts under investigation
RENO (AP) – Police in Reno say they’re investigating a sharp increase in the number of propane tank thefts in recent months from retail storage areas.
Police Sgt. Matt Dellavella says thieves have been making off with up to 20 tanks at a time from pharmacy and grocery store storage cages.
Investigators don’t know whether thieves are using the gas to cook methamphetamine, to heat homes, or recycling the tanks for cash.
Police have not identified any suspects.
