Pump prices drop in Carson City; pause nationally
Gasoline pump prices declined in Carson City and Nevada during recent days, a survey website reported, with the lowest here decreasing even more than did the state average.
There were four stations posting pump prices of $2.86 per gallon Monday, said GasBuddy.com., which was seven cents less than the capital city’s lowest three a week earlier. The four Monday were Costco, 700 Old Clear Creek Road; Eagle Gas, 1360 S. Carson St.; JM Gasoline, 13211 N. Carson St., and Country Store, 3389 U.S. Highway 50 East. Three of those a week ago hit a low at $2.93, but Country Store was higher then.
Across Nevada, a GasBuddy.com survey on Sunday of 1,130 outlets showed the average pump price was $3.26 a gallon, a drop from about $3.29 a week earlier. Officially, the website said, the price drop was 3.5 cents per gallon.
Nationally, the website reported, there was a slight increase of 0.4 cents per gallon in the past week to $2.76 a gallon.
“We’re finally starting to get a well-needed respite from rising gasoline prices across the country,” said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy petroleum analyst. He said the respite was led by a double digit drop in the price per gallon last week in California. DeHaan said he’s confident more easing is imminent.
“The percentage of stations selling gasoline over $3 per gallon has declined over the last week,” he said, “while the percentage of stations selling gasoline under $2.50 per gallon has also declined.” He said that led to less variety in pricing, yet motorists can save on the next tank they fill up by locating the outlets with the lowest prices.
