Sandoval to debut Hispanic TV ad

(AP) – Nevada Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Sandoval will launch his first campaign commercial on Hispanic television this weekend.

His campaign says it will debut Sunday during the World Cup soccer championship between Spain and the Netherlands.

Sandoval, who was the first Hispanic to win statewide election in Nevada in the 2002 attorney general’s race, does not speak Spanish.

His Democratic opponent, Rory Reid, is fluent in the language.

Sandoval drew criticism from some Hispanic leaders during the primary when he said he supported Arizona’s new immigration law and opposed driver’s licenses for undocumented residents.
