Sferrazza makes candidacy official
Reno councilwoman Jessica Sferrazza has formally declared herself a candidate for lieutenant governor.
She cited her record of promoting economic diversity through alternative energy initiatives, saying the lieutenant governor’s office is a natural extension of her public service.
“Now I want to take my plan for job creation to the next level, and the lieutenant governor’s office is the perfect fit,” she said.
Sferrazza, 36, has been on the Reno City Council for nine years. She won 75 percent of the vote in her 2008 election. She currently also serves as president of the Nevada League of Cities.
A Democrat, she said diversifying the state’s economy will help stabilize governmental revenues, create jobs and speed the state’s recovery from the recession.
“We need a leader who will fight to truly diversify our state’s economy,” she said.
