Special meeting to discuss changes to Genoa Lakes development
Changes to the Genoa Lakes Planned Development will be discussed at a special Genoa Town Board meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Modifications include requests for 220 dwelling units, a clubhouse, a golf course, a health facility and 160 time-share units, according to Mimi Moss, planning and economic development manager for the Douglas County Community Development Office. Plans for a hotel have been dropped, she said.
The issue will likely draw many Genoa residents to the meeting, where board members will collect comments for the planning commission.
Resident Nancy Miluck will likely be there to voice her opinion.
“It’s appalling,” she said. “It’s going to quietly ease through, and I’m not in the mood for that.”
The planning commission will address the changes Feb. 11, and the county commissioners will vote on them March 6.
Board members will hold a budget workshop to:
— Discuss the town budget, including maintenance projects and capital improvement projects for fiscal year 2003-04.
— Discuss the development of a Genoa Master Plan at $50,000, insulation for the town office at $3,500, and repairing or replacing the town hall roof.
— Take action on a proposed property tax rate.
