Spots available on Carson City committees
Applicants are being sought by Carson City’s Board of Supervisors for two spots on the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee and two more on the Open Space Advisory Committee.
The city’s governing board, which also is the Redevelopment Authority when it deals with such issues, wants applicants for one citizen-at-large and one business operator or property owner to serve on the citizens panel that advises them. Each term will expire Jan. 1, 2018.
The citizens panel advises the board/authority on redevelopment area plans, incentive programs, special event funding and other matters pertaining to the redevelopment district. Applicants are cautioned in the city government release on the appointment process a commitment of 10 hours monthly is expected, service is voluntary without compensation and applications are public information. Applicants must be registered voters.
Applications will be accepted until positions are filled. Interviews will be set at the first available meeting of the city governing board after receipt of applications from qualified citizens.
Two positions, expiring in Jan., 2018, are also open on the Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee, which reviews issues regarding the preservation and protection of the natural environment. It meets at 6 p.m. on the third Monday of every other month in the Sierra Room of the Community Center. Applicants must be registered voters. Applications will be accepted until Feb. 6, with interviews scheduled on Feb. 15.
