State to open emergency center for New Year’s Eve

The State of Nevada Division of Emergency Management will open its operations center at 7 a.m. New Year’s Eve at the Nevada National Guard building in Carson City.

The center’s function is to monitor millennium activities and to offer state resources to local jurisdictions who may require assistance.

Kim Evans, spokeswoman, said the the center will be able to provide state agencies with current incident reports and would be able to provide up to the minute tracking of state emergencies.

“Live, ‘real time’ satellite feed broadcast from downtown casino areas at Stateline,” she stated.

In addition, there will be informational updates from areas such as Reno’s downtown area and the Las Vegas strip via emergency management units in Washoe, Clark and Douglas counties.
