Teen treated, released from hospital after Dayton accident
A Dayton teen was home Wednesday afternoon after being struck earlier in the morning by a vehicle while crossing Highway 50 on his skateboard.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Hartline said 14-year-old Alex Lozano was treated and released from Renown Regional Medical Center with “scrapes and bruises” he sustained in the 6:40 a.m. accident.
Lozano was attempting to cross the highway near Riverboat and Cardelli roads when he was struck in the center lane by a truck driven by Michael Brammer, 42.
Brammer was turning left onto the highway from Riverboat Road when the accident occurred.
Lozano was conscious and talking with police when they arrived, but as a precaution, a Care Flight helicopter landed in a field at Cardelli Road and Highway 50 and the boy was taken to the Reno hospital by air.
Eastbound traffic was reduced to one lane around the accident scene for about 90 minutes.
