Threat near Riverview Elementary School unfounded

Nevada Appeal staff report

Riverview Elementary School in Dayton was on lockdown for about 20 minutes Monday morning after reports of a man with a gun near the school.

“Riverview families, the lockdown has concluded. There was a report from a citizen that they spotted a man with a gun a distance from the school. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately, investigated the situation, and were unable to find anyone. We are thankful for our sheriff’s department’s quick response, and are happy to report that all students are safe, and school has resumed as normal. Thank you for your patience. Have a great afternoon,” an email from the Lyon County School District said.

The Sheriff’s Office will continue to have a presence in the area throughout the remaining school day as a precautionary measure.
