Topaz Lodge to reopen Tuesday
June 29, 2007
After three months of closure due to an electrical fire on April 3, the doors of Topaz Lodge and Casino will be open for business again, beginning Tuesday according to Rick Ross, Topaz Lodge General Manager.
“The main floor of the casino, including the Lakeview Restaurant, bar and gaming will all be open for business Tuesday,” Ross said.
“We wanted to reopen a little earlier, but we’re ecstatic to finally be getting back to business as usual,” he said. “We have been working hard doing everything possible to get the resort up and running by summer, and we succeeded.”
Work on the downstairs, which includes the buffet room, the Topaz Steak & Chop House, small bar and video arcade games for the younger set, is planned for completion by the end of July.
“We are planning for a big opening with a lot of things happening when the project is complete,” Ross said. “In the meantime, at least we will be up and running on the main casino floor.”
The Lodge, owned by Reno Mayor Bob Cashell and his son Rob, was established in 1952. It has been owned by the Cashells since April 1, 2001.
