What’s open and closed on Nevada Day 2006

Nevada Day will be recognized on Oct. 27 this year. Here is a list of what will be open and closed for the day:

Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Bank of Nevada, US Bank and Bank of the West will all have open branches on Friday. Colonial Bank will be closed. Greater Nevada Credit Union will be closed, but members can still use ATMs, their online E-Branch service, and their Phone Activated Teller service.

The Western Nevada Community College campuses located in Carson City, Minden, Fernley, Fallon, Lovelock, Hawthorne, Smith Valley and Yerington will be closed.

All public schools will be closed, as will most state and city offices.

All United States Postal Service offices will be open.

The Storey County Senior Center will be open Friday but closed on Tuesday.

RTC Ride and Sierra Spirit in Reno will both be running a normal Friday schedule. RTC INTERCITY, the Reno to Carson bus route, will be running a normal schedule.

CARSON CITY

Carson Street (Highway 395) will be closed at 8 a.m. Saturday from Winnie Lane on the north to Fairview Drive on the south for the Nevada Day Parade. William Street (Highway 50) will be closed from Roop to Curry streets. Through traffic is encouraged to use Edmonds Drive and College Parkway to avoid parade traffic.

The Carson City Senior Citizens Center will be closed.

The Carson City Clerk’s Office will be open for marriage licenses from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and for early voting from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Department will be closed. Officers will patrol as usual.

The Carson City Public Library will be closed Friday and Saturday, and will reopen Monday.

Jump Around Carson will not run on Friday, but will run Saturday.

The Nevada State Museum and the Nevada State Railroad Museum will both be open normal operating hours.

The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada will be open from 1-4:30 p.m.

LYON COUNTY

All five Lyon County public libraries will be closed Friday.

All public offices, including the marriage bureau and clerk’s office, will be closed.

The Dayton and Silver Springs senior centers will not be open.

DOUGLAS COUNTY

All Douglas County public libraries will be closed.

The Sheriff’s Department will be closed. Officers will patrol as usual.

DART will not be running Friday.

The Douglas County Senior Center will be closed.

The Douglas County Marriage Bureaus will be open. The Minden branch will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on an on-call basis. The Tahoe branch will be open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
