Carson galleries hosting artists
Western Nevada College offers a diverse series of art exhibits beginning Monday, Nov. 29, through the end of January. A public reception for the artists will be Wednesday, Dec. 8, 5-6:30 p.m., in the Bristlecone Building.
In the Main Gallery, South Lake Tahoe artist Alison Harris will exhibit her drawings in “Recent Works.”
At the adjoining Atrium Gallery, Michelle Legras Peltier will exhibit “My Work is My Prayer.” Peltier is the college’s graphic designer as well as a fine artist who works in several media.
Artist Jill Brugler brings “Stream” to the College Gallery. She is a part-time art instructor at WNC teaching clay sculpture, ceramics and art fundamentals. The exhibit features clay pieces made from a combination of materials that speak to the artist’s vision of the flow of a stream.
Employee giving campaign a success
Over the years, WNC employees have shown ongoing generosity to their school by donating to the Western Nevada College Foundation in support of students.
This year’s employee giving campaign, “One Small Gift From You – One Giant Leap For Western,” continues through Friday, Dec. 17. Already, 39 percent of Western employees support the foundation through payroll deduction. After just two weeks of the campaign, the number of faculty and staff donating had risen to 49 percent.
