WNC News & Notes: Western Nevada College nurses embrace giving spirit
November 25, 2017
Your abandoned shoes just might help a nurse travel to Nashville, Tenn., and help someone become an entrepreneur in a poor country.
Nursing students at Western Nevada College are participating in a shoe drive through the end of November to help send its National Student Nurses Association committee to the national convention in April.
Donations of new and gently used shoes are being accepted through Tuesday at WNC, 2201 W. College Parkway in Carson City.
Drop-off areas are Cedar Building 231, Reynolds Center 103 and Cedar Building 100.
Shoe donations can also be picked up on WNC's Fallon and Douglas campuses.
WNC's NSNA club is participating in the shoe drive in partnership with Angel Bins, which has generated more than $1.8 million for schools, teams, adoptions and charities since 2012.

The shoes will be exported to various countries, creating thousands of jobs for micro-entrepreneurs who resell them as a means of supporting their families and becoming more self-sufficient.
