Woman arrested in alleged DUI wreck

A Carson City woman was jailed Wednesday on suspicion of drunken driving following a 3:30 p.m. accident in which she slammed her sedan into the rear of a GMC Suburban, injuring her friend.
Jeff Lovelace of Dayton said he was eastbound on Highway 50 East just west of Airport Road, when a Ford Escort flew past him in the slow lane.
“I was going 30, slowing down for the (red) signal light, and she passed me somewhere between 15 and 20 miles per hour faster. Then she realized she had nowhere to go.”
Lovelace said the Escort rear-ended the Suburban, which then rear ended another vehicle. The passenger in the Ford was thrown into the windshield.
“It was an accident looking for a place to happen,” he said.
Driver Lori Goolsby, 45, was belligerent and refusing to allow rescue workers to strap her to a gurney, as her teenage sons who were called to the scene begged her to calm down.
“We’re going to take you the hospital, then take you to jail,” a paramedic could be overheard telling her.
Goolsby’s passenger was taken by ambulance to the airport, where she was put onto a CalStar helicopter and flown to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
Trooper Ron Larson said he did not get the passenger’s name before paramedics whisked her away.
Depending the severity of the woman’s injuries, Goolsby could be charged with a felony.
