Wrong-way driver causes crash on Reno freeway
RENO” Authorities say a wrong-way driver on a Reno freeway caused a multi-car crash overnight that included a police officer on his way to a call.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says the accident happened around 1 a.m. when a driver got on the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 going in the wrong direction.
Authorities say the female driver struck at least two westbound vehicles, one of which also struck a Reno police officer.
The NHP says the officer and one of the other drivers suffered major injuries.
Alcohol is suspected.
Names of those involved were not immediately released.
The crash closed a section of the freeway for five hours.
