Lone Mountain hospital hosts family day Sunday
Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital will host a family fun day Sunday to celebrate American Animal Hospital Association Accredited Hospital Day. AAHA-Accredited Hospital Day celebrates champions for excellent care. The event takes place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital, 780 College Parkway in Carson City.
“This is a national event for AAHA,” said Margie Quirk, owner of Lone Mountain. “This is the second time we’ve participated, but this year we’re taking it to the next level of fun. “
The event is open to the public, with food from Hillbilly Chili and Lazy Sundae, games and face painting for children, live music, art vendors and the SPCA. As the event takes place outside with many people, Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital urges families to leave their pets at home.
“AAHA sets the standards of the best quality medicine, including cleanliness, respectful treatment of your pet and advanced medical record-keeping, that we strive to provide our clients,” Quirk said. “We want to educate the community about why we provide the services that we do and why an AAHA accreditation is important for your pets.”
According to AAHA, only about 15 percent of veterinary practices adhere to accreditation standards that are similar to the accreditation standards of all human hospitals. Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital is one of only two AAHA-accredited hospitals in the area.
Donations of cat and dog food will be accepted by Pets of the Homeless. The SPCA also will accept monetary donations and donations of cat litter, cat food and toys.
