Want to find someone new for a good cause?

Then look no further than the Brewery Arts Center Friday night as 19 of Carson’s most eligible bachelor and bachelorettes put themselves on the auction block to support FEAT (Families for Effective Autism Treatment) and the Carson-Tahoe Neonatal Nursery.

The auction, hosted by the Carson chapter of Active 20-30 International – a philanthropy organization for people 20 to 39 – will also feature five date packages in Carson and Tahoe for those already attached.

“The date packages have a little something for everyone,” said benefit organizer and local 20-30 club president Heidi Schneider. “All of our date packages are from local businesses and The M.S. Dixie and Zephyr Cove Stables in Tahoe.”

But the main event remains the auction of some of Northern Nevada’ most sought-after scenesters, including six DJs from Reno’s alternative rock station, KRZQ.

If the auction goes as planned, the first annual fundraiser could turn out to be the club’s biggest yet, organizers said.

“So far, we’ve raised about $6,000 without the night even happening yet,” Schneider said. “Countrywide Home Loans has been a big sponsor to get this going.

“The Brewery Arts Center is also putting a ton of work into this – we’re looking forward to the night.”

The evening will be emceed by comedian Kat Simmons and will feature music, a raffle and spirits from D’Vine Wine & Bistro.

“We’re donating 20 percent of our proceeds to the cause,” said Kim Donner, owner of D’Vine Wine. “I’m just looking forward to seeing everyone there. It’s going to be an interesting evening, that’s for sure.”

Currently, the Carson chapter of the 20-30 club has 10 members, but organizers said they’re “always looking for members who are hard workers.”

“In two years, we’ve raised $25,000 for local children,” said Schneider, who is also a Realtor at Realty Executives in Carson. “But this looks to be our biggest fundraiser yet.”
