A former Gardnerville man was in custody Tuesday morning charged in the sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl last summer.
David Christopher Springer, 26, was arrested Monday night just after 10 p.m. at his home in the 3200 block of Sherman Lane in Northeast Carson City.
According to the arrest report, Carson City deputies went out to the Sherman Lane address with a Douglas County warrant for Springer’s arrest. The warrant charges Springer with felony child abuse or neglect and sexual assault of a child under the age of 14.
When police arrived at the Sherman Lane home, officers contacted Springer’s girlfriend, Danielle Brown, 33. Brown allowed officers into the home, stating she did not know where Springer was, according to the report.
The report states Springer was eventually found “hiding in the master bathroom.” Brown was also arrested on suspicion of felony harboring a fugitive.
According to the criminal complaint filed March 10 in East Fork Justice Court in Minden, Springer is accused of kicking or punching the girl in November and forcing her to perform a sex act on him “during the summer of 2007,” all of which occurred within Douglas County.
Springer, who lists his occupation as a painter, will appear in East Fork Justice Court this morning. He is being held on $250,000 cash bail.
Brown, who lists her occupation as a general manager, had her bail set at $5,000.
