Marthier ‘Rod’ Roddam

Marthier “Rod” Roddam, 84, a Carson City resident for 19 years, died Feb. 26, 2007, in Carson City.

Mr. Roddam was born April 4, 1922, in Boswell, Okla., to Minet and Neoma Roddam.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Roddam lived in Orange County, Calif.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked in the building industry, starting as a carpenter and working up to the building director for the city of Fountain Valley, Calif. He retired in 1980. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife Madeline Roddam Nov. 26, 2006; by son Roddney Roddam in 1968; four brothers and four sisters.

Among his survivors are his daughters Rosalyn Joy and David Crist of Overgaard, Ariz., and Sheryl and Kenneth Strout of Redlands, Calif.; brother Jack Roddam of San Bernardino, Calif.; two grandsons and four great-granddaughters.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange, Calif., where he will be buried alongside his wife and son.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Foundation.
